Girlfriend needs to learn how to lipsync!
So today I am a 70s housewife. I'm on my death bed and it seemed like
such a good idea to eat a diet of TaB and chocolate. To mix with that
the only thing worth watching was the Tyra show.
Now Im not gonna pretend I've kept an interest in RnB these past few
years. I know OF Amerie but I couldnt even tell you the name of the
songs she sang (I think the one was called One Touch...may be wrong
there.) I wanted to link to a youtube of this performance but I
couldnt find it...maye be to new or no one may care.
So Amerie sings one slower song and it sounds live. She's a bit off
and boring but not massacaring it or anything. Id deem it
'exceptable'. Then she does another song. A faster song. This song
starts out again with dancers and a 'ah ah ah ah' vocal line that
starts with her FACING the camera AND moving her mouth (mind you you
could hear it perfectly) yet the mic was at her side. Props for going
with it tell the verse began but it got worse. So the song is
obviously now being lipsynced and I pretty much (not caring who she
is) stopped paying attention. Then I looked back up at the screen as
the chorus began (it was one of those choruses that repeat the same
'verse like' bits 3 times) and the back up vocals AND 'Ooo ooo's' were
going yet her mouth wasnt moving AND the mic was again at her side.
She just played it off and played when the next 'Oooo's' began.
I'd like to know what happened to good Pop'nb singers. So far we got
Ashanti (who fucked Ja Rule to the top...Karrine Steffans confirmed
that :p), Cassie who couldn't sing live for the life of her, and a
million other little 'pretty' girls who arent as crazy as Beyonce,
have no vocal ability, and some dull songs that mostly involve a neat
little hook while a rapper does most of the work.
I'll tell you what happened to Pop'nB. The death of this woman:
I worshipped Aaliyah back in the day. Sure she probably had her little
fuck to the top ala Ashanti and Cassie BUT Aaliyah had talent. She
could sing though her vocals werent 'Beyonce-d' (too overpowering.)
She could dance, she was HOT, and her songs were HOT. They did have
their rapper parts but not (usually) to the point of overwhelming the
song. Aaliyah was famous like what 1994 to her death in 2001? And she
was just STARTING then. If she had lived she would have RULED the
world by 2006. We're talking about a career that lasted 7 years and
could have lasted longer had she not died. These little Amerie's and
Ashanti's havent been around longer then 2001. And they are/havent
made near the impact Aaliyah ever did in her early years. Cassie just
